Mardi dernier, je suis all\u00e9 shooter Omnium Gatherum et Fallujah au Grillen<\/a> \u00e0 Colmar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fallujah je les connaissais grace \u00e0 leur dernier album Xenotaph<\/a>. Par contre, pour Omnium Gatherum, j\u2019\u00e9tais sec m\u00eame si l\u2019ami St\u00e9phane<\/a> a souvent parl\u00e9 du groupe sur son blog. Le plus simple pour moi \u00e9tait d\u2019\u00e9couter leur dernier album May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way<\/a> pour me faire une id\u00e9e, et tant qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9couter, pourquoi ne pas en faire une chronique ici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omnium Gatherum est un groupe finlandais qui s\u00e9vit depuis 2002 dans les sph\u00e8res du death metal m\u00e9lodique. Moi je parlerais plut\u00f4t de heavy hard rock avec du growl. Un metal \u00e0 growl et chant clair \u00e0 trois voix des plus rythm\u00e9 qui joue un peu \u00e0 la guitar hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honn\u00eatement leur musique n\u2019est clairement pas ma came, enfin, disons pas ce que j\u2019\u00e9coute d\u2019habitude. Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 tr\u00e9pidant du duo basse batterie doubl\u00e9 d\u2019une grosse voix d\u00e9moniaque pendant quatre-vingt dix pourcent de l\u2019album, ce n\u2019est pas ce que je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re. Mais un peu de changement n\u2019a jamais fait de mal \u00e0 personne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way d\u00e9livre neuf titres de une \u00e0 presque sept minutes pour moins de trois quarts d\u2019heure de musique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9criture presque pop m\u00e9tal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il y a un c\u00f4t\u00e9 dinosaure du rock dans leur musique : ces voix claires tr\u00e8s 80\u2019s et ces ch\u0153urs qui rencontrent un growl caverneux \u00e0 souhait sur des traits de guitares d\u2019un autre temps. La batterie de Atte est galopante et les guitares de Markus en font des tonnes. Mais au milieu de tout cela vous allez entendre Aapo se d\u00e9foncer aux claviers pour donner un air de metal symphonique \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les ch\u0153urs et les voix les claires de Markus et Mikko comme dans \u2018My Pain\u2019 nous feraient presque oublier qu\u2019ici on \u00e9coute du m\u00e9tal.\u00a0\u00c9videmment, le growl brutal de Jukka, qui ne cherche jamais \u00e0 \u00eatre m\u00e9lodique, nous rappelle tout le temps le contraire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il s\u2019agit bien de death metal et \u00e7a d\u00e9pote. Mais figurez-vous que pass\u00e9e la premi\u00e8re surprise, j\u2019ai pris go\u00fbt \u00e0 ce m\u00e9lange improbable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n\u2019y aurait pas Jukka qui s\u2019arrache les cordes vocales, Omnium Gatherum pourrait presque passer pour du bon vieux hard rock un peu kitch. En fait, May The Bridge We Burn Light The Way est un album assez fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N’emp\u00eache, les deux titres instrumentaux, intitul\u00e9s respectivement \u2018May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way\u2019 et  \u2018Road Closed Ahead\u2019, qui ouvrent et concluent l\u2019album sur des instrumentaux qui nous offre un r\u00e9pit salutaire au growl caverneux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorsque vous arriverez \u00e0 la fin de l\u2019album et que r\u00e9sonneront les premi\u00e8res notes de \u2018Road Closed Ahead\u2019, vous aurez l\u2019impression d\u2019\u00e9couter le plus beau morceaux de tous les temps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je peux me coucher moins b\u00eate maintenant que j\u2019ai \u00e9cout\u00e9 le groupe Omnium Gatherum en studio et en live. Je ne vous promets pas pour autant de recommencer l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de si t\u00f4t car leur musique est \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re de ma zone de tol\u00e9rance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
