Un grand moment de solitude alors que propuls\u00e9 interpr\u00e8te du groupe, je lui indiquais l\u2019endroit o\u00f9 il pouvait se rafra\u00eechir quand il me demanda si je l&rsquo;accompagnerai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce n\u2019est pas pour Calling All The Stations que j\u2019appr\u00e9cie Ray Wilson pas plus que pour ses excellentes reprises du r\u00e9pertoire de Genesis en concert, mais bien pour sa carri\u00e8re solo, entour\u00e9 de nombreux musiciens dont son fr\u00e8re Steve Wilson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis Genesis, Ray compose des titres pop rock et tourne en Europe de l\u2019Est, m\u00ealant \u00e0 son r\u00e9pertoire celui de Genesis, de Stillskin et quelques autres reprises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces concerts sont \u00e0 chaque fois extraordinaires et si vous voulez le d\u00e9couvrir, il sera le 10 novembre \u00e0 la Laiterie \u00e0 Strasbourg, enfin si d\u2019ici l\u00e0 tout va mieux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ray est rentr\u00e9 dans ma discographie tr\u00e8s progressive avec le disque Live At SWR 1 et s\u2019est peu \u00e0 peu impos\u00e9 dans mes rayonnages avec ses albums studio pop rock.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2020, lors du confinement, il nous jouait sur Youtube des reprises acoustiques \u00e0 la guitare, depuis sa maison en Pologne. Une mani\u00e8re de se donner du courage en ces jours sombres. Rien que pour cela j\u2019aurai command\u00e9 son nouvel album The Weight of Man. Maintenant qu\u2019il est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 la maison, je l\u2019\u00e9coute en boucle. Tout simplement parce qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un tr\u00e8s beau disque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cinquante minutes pour dix titres et une reprise des Beatles (\u2018Golden Slumbers\u2019), The Weight Of Man c\u2019est d\u2019abord un magnifique single intitul\u00e9 \u2018Mother Earth\u2019. C\u2019est aussi le chant de Ray et la guitare de Ali Ferguson. A leurs c\u00f4t\u00e9s on trouve \u00e9galement Yogi Lang de RPWL aux claviers et chant mais pas trace de Steve sur cet album cette fois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Weight Of Man est un album COVID comme en t\u00e9moignent le texte de \u2018Mother Earth\u2019 et peut-\u00eatre celui de \u2018Symptomatic\u2019. Il raconte la vie \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re m\u00e9lancolique de Ray.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sting et Phil Collins se croisent sur \u2018You Could Been Someone\u2019 quand le blues s &lsquo;installe sur \u2018Mother Earth\u2019. Les floyds et le Genesis de \u2018Congo\u2019 ne sont pas tr\u00e8s d \u2018Amelia\u2019 et si la pop domine, Ray sait aussi composer des morceaux plus complexes comme avec \u2018I Like You\u2019. J\u2019ai \u00e9galement une tendresse toute particuli\u00e8re pour \u2018Symptomatic\u2019 jou\u00e9 au piano et fl\u00fbte traversi\u00e8re et pour le titre country \u2018Cold Like Stone\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weight Of Man n\u2019est sans doute pas le disque de l\u2019ann\u00e9e mais ceux qui comme moi appr\u00e9cient Ray Wilson seront d\u2019accord pour dire qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un de ses meilleurs albums studio.
